How-To – Pack Your First GoBag
GoBag.One™ | GoBag or Stay Home™
A poorly packed GoBag fails before you even leave the driveway. If it’s unbalanced, overloaded, or disorganized, it slows you down when seconds matter.
GoBag or Stay Home™ means if you’re going to carry it, pack it smart.
🎒 Packing Basics
- Balance: Keep heavy gear close to your spine and centered in the bag.
- Access: Store critical gear (water, flashlight, first aid) on top or in outer pockets.
- Protection: Use waterproof bags or trash liners inside your GoBag to keep clothing, food, and electronics dry.
⚙️ Core Packing Categories
- Top Layer: Rain gear, snacks, flashlight—items you’ll need often or in a hurry.
- Middle (Core): Heavy gear tight to your back (water bottles, stove, dense food).
- Bottom: Soft gear like a sleeping bag or spare clothes to cushion the load.
- Outer Pockets: First aid kit, knife, headlamp, multitool.
- Straps / Molle: Tent, sleeping mat, or other bulky gear strapped outside.
🛠 Improvised & Backup Tips
- Use ziplock or trash bags as cheap waterproofing if you don’t have dry sacks.
- Color-code bags or use tape (red = medical, blue = water, green = food).
- Stage an extra small pack or sling bag as a secondary bag if you need to travel lighter later.
🔥 Field Tips
- Walk a mile with your packed GoBag—adjust weight, straps, and gear until it rides comfortably.
- Repack every 3–6 months. Rotate food, meds, batteries, and seasonal items.
- Practice finding critical gear in the dark—speed and muscle memory matter.
✅ Pro Tip
Pack like you’ll use it. If you can’t reach your flashlight or water in under 10 seconds, you packed it wrong.
