🌫️ Event: 18:47 – Suburban Neighborhood, USA | Wildfire Smoke Advancing, Evacuation Possible
Wildfire smoke creeps over the ridge, pushing a neighborhood to decide between bugging out or sheltering in place. GoBag or Stay Home™ — either way, preparation matters.
📋 Lisa’s Rapid Checklist
- Check air quality index (AQI) — confirms “hazardous” level
- Seal windows and doors with pre-cut plastic and tape
- Air purifier on standby with clean filters
- GoBags staged at front door with N95 masks on top
- Vehicle fueled, documents folder placed in glove box
Jake debates if this is overreaction. Lisa reminds him: smoke moves faster than flames.
🪖 Major Dave: Call at 19:05
On speakerphone, his tone steady: “Task is clear — decide your op now. Shelter if you can maintain air quality, or move before roads choke. Delay is the enemy.”
Ellie asks if Shadow can wear a mask. Dave chuckles: “Shadow’s got instincts. Follow them.”
🚪 Neighborhood Check-In – 19:20
- Alex debates waiting it out, no masks, car on empty
- Ms. Ortega closes curtains, leans on neighbor help for sealing vents
- Sky glows faint orange in the distance
Some neighbors hesitate, others act. The family sees both sides from their driveway. Dave’s words echo — decide your op now.
✅ Outcome – Decision Locked
- House sealed, air filter running
- GoBags and vehicle ready for immediate departure
- Family and pets breathing easier inside while conditions monitored
- Decision to shelter in place made early — escape route still available if needed
Lisa logs the note: “Preparation gave us options. Panic takes them away.”
